Garry is lifelong resident of the Illinois Valley, Garry was an independent business owner for more than 25 years. He also served as a city alderman in LaSalle for three terms, having first been elected in 1997. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Garry has a bachelor's degree in finance. He is an IHSA recognized basketball official. Garry is married to Barb for 45 years and they have two married daughters, Jenny and Ali and three grandchildren.
